Look: Cascading Planter Box
Sydney

300908-CascadingPlanter-01.jpgWe spotted this interesting street planter box over at the The Design Files. It’s in the Sydney suburb of Darlinghurst. There’s a hanging gardens of Babylon meets vintage glamour vibe to it that we really like. Imagine it as a centrepiece in a cute little paved courtyard – not having a garden or balcony we can only dream about these things.

We couldn’t find any actual planter boxes like this to buy, so it’s DIY by default. Perhaps you could turn a tiered concrete fountain into something similar. What do you think?

Reminds me of a sort of gigantic strawberry jar at Disneyworld.

Another way you could do it is buy a bunch of wide, flat bowls, plant them around the edge, and stack them. You might want to have something in the middle (a smaller pot?) to hold them up so the soil doesn't get compacted. This would work even on a tabletop scale, but you'd have to use very small plants to get the same effect - maybe string of hearts or string of pearls for a cascader and some wee succulents in place of the flowers.
