Look: Chalkboard Easter Eggs
Sydney

040709egg01.jpgEaster is this weekend and amongst our family, chocolate is the gift of choice. However, after seeing the above chalkboard Easter eggs we got quite excited about the idea of an Easter egg that will last longer than a day.

040709egg02.jpgCreated by Lisa Tilse of Sydney based online store The Red Thread, these hand painted ostrich eggs are a super cute alternative to chocolate. With ostrich eggs being the largest and strongest laid egg of any bird species, there is no danger of damaging the eggs as you write your chalky messages. The Red Thread’s eggs also come on a sturdy nest of jute, string and fabric to keep the egg from rolling around. Available for AU$45 or US$35 through The Red Thread Website.

We have a large vase full of ostrich eggs that we’ve been holding onto waiting for a project just like this.

Are you giving any non-chocolate gifts this Easter?

Just chalkboard painting anything round, like wooden balls (!) would work just as well! (:
