Look: Nicholas Jones, Book Sculptor
Melbourne

290708booksculpt01.jpgWe may have a theme here with artists re-fashioning everyday objects into beautiful new forms – which have a new life again when displayed within a living space. Our find today is Nicholas Jones, Melbourne-based book sculptor extraordinaire.

Jones cuts and folds the pages of old books to create fascinating sculptural forms. If we owned one or three of these artworks, we’d display them in the bookcase alongside their old friends. As for DIY versions…we’re leaving these to the professional!

These are ridiculously easy to do yourself. It's almost insulting that he's getting artistic credit for what so many kids have done in camp.

Anthropologie in Palo Alto has a whole bunch of those hanging from its ceiling right now. I just saw them 30 mins ago on my lunch break.

I think Brian Dettmer is one of the most talented artists around working with altered books.
