DIY projects that take forever to complete can get you down, sometimes you just need a quick fix project to lift your decorating spirits. This easy string hanging system is quick to install and cheap. If you have twine or coloured string, push pins and paperclips at home you can make this now. Hang photos above a bed or use it in your office corner to hang notes and inspiration pics. Instructions and examples below.
This project is sort of a simpler to execute version of the DIY cord noticeboard we posted a while back. Cut string into desired lengths, leaving a little extra to tie around the pins. Push pins into the wall then tie the ends of the string securely around the pin. Use paper clips to hang up light weight items. Cute coloured paperclips from stores like Kikki. K give a more finished feel, but we kind of like the standard silver ones.

This is cute but I'm hesitant to crimp my photos with paper clips. I guess I could use it for stuff I could easily copy (digital prints) or so much other ephemera I hang onto...
uhhh... what's that about cats, Pistachio?

cats would love to pull the strings down. at least all cats i know would.
hm. i must say that i d not really like the idea ... might work, depending on where you do it and what you stick to it, but i find it rather distracting.

I had something similar once... I hung yarn vertically from a curtain rod, and clipped postcards of artwork onto it.
Worked great until my cat ate the string he could reach.

whytephoenix -- it was the first word that popped into my head when i saw all that lovely string hanging on the walls asking to be played with.

I did something like this, but stretched the yarn across a big empty frame I'd picked up at a yard sale. The frame gives this idea a little more structure, which is important to me!

forgot to mention - I use it now as a quirky inspiration board.

ummm...not everyone has a cat. My dog couldn't care less about what is on the walls. (the floor now, that is another story)
I could see this as a kind of "art installation"; in the right spot it could look stunning. I'm thinking a somewhat color-curated rectangle as an accent on a differently colored wall...

When these sort of impulses hit me, I usually lie down until the fancy passes. But I like Heather's idea of the frame.
