We’ve been buying a lot of different prints and wall hangings from Etsy recently. While we’re happy to buy works from some great international sellers, with our Australian dollar being so terrible we feel that we need to get behind and support some of our local artist. Here is a round up of our favourite Melbourne based Etsy artists…

MyFolkLover - Artist Catherine Campbell is the lady behind MyFolkLover. With sweet illustrations of wispy haired girls, travelling teacups and a darn cute cat in a diamond pullover the MyFolkLover store is dreamy and addictive.

BillyLee - Owning one of BillyLee’s woodcut prints already, we were thrilled when we stumbled across her newly opened Etsy store over the weekend. BillyLee’s prints are all one of a kind, amazingly detailed and a great size [most being A2]. Currently only one print is listed with the promise of more– we will certainly be checking back regularly.

&Accessories - This store appears to be run by a group of designers and their store offers a mix of jewellery and prints. They “focus on quality rather than quantity” so there is only a limited amount of each item. We particularly like the deer prints listed at &Accessories store.

MyCharlieGirl - Beautiful and tender drawings are the best way to describe Bec Winnels work. Soft portraits of glamorous women make MyCharlieGirl’s store a soothing place to browse.

MizuDesigns - After studying traditional Japanese woodblock printing while living in Japan for 7 years, Kylie Budge’s store MizuDesigns is full of unique works. Also dabbling in giclee prints, MizuDesigns is an interesting and exceptional store.
Do you intentionally shop locally on Etsy? Are there any of your local artist you’d recommend?

What a great idea! I like to check the local stuff first, but I think I'm putting Mizu on my Xmas list anyway.

i really like that deer print, but like Lizzard said the link isn't working. does anyone know if they're still selling on etsy under a different store name?

Lizzard & eribear12 - It appears &Accessories no longer exists!! Using the links that I was working off last night, Etsy says "Sorry, the user you are looking for no longer has an active account".
Sorry to tease you all, but they were still open 12hours ago!
