The Potted Pavement
Australia

20080710-PottedPavement-1.jpgForget get about ‘Give me a home among the gumtrees, with lots of plum trees’ – down-under we have cities too and not everyone is lucky enough to have their own front yard. These resourceful urban dwellers have created a garden where there was none. All you need is a nice collection of potted plants - a wide footpath helps - and you’re set provided local council doesn’t get all worked up about it...

I think it looks fantastic! I find that as most Australians are used to living, or grew up in, large suburban houses, we urban dwelling Aussies have been a bit slow with the conversion to small, cool living. This is a standout use of space and creative thinking.

Looks like something i would do (not sure mine would look this good, though.) Also reminds me of a dumpling house in chinatown where the proprietors started an amazing project in 5-gal food service buckets - under awnings, facing the parking lot. They had tons of plants; I just remember dracaenas and a gigantic rubber tree.
