This week in the Fall Cure we've spent some time defining our style. Sometimes we know for sure what we like and don't like and other times we need a chance to cultivate it. How about it?

that was too hard! i'd say i'm equal parts Mid-Century and Hollywood regency, but i'm all about being as green as possible and am a total scavenger.
i like to say that my taste is more country club chic with rock n roll cheek.

I agree, it's too hard to pick just one of those options. I have a few streamlined mid-century modern pieces, a big comfy sofa, some scavenged vintage stuff (a 50s formica kitchen table, for example), and some nonedescript Ikea stuff. I also have a TON of books (what design style is that? Library chic?)
Also, I wonder if this popularity with Mid-Century Modern isn't going to wane soon. Don't you think it's reached its tipping point?

Edan-- think we're just going to run out of midcentury furniture! It has become so expensive and I agree it's only a matter of time before something new will crop up. My vote is for granny chic!
And Dean--you're too cute, rock n roll cheek!

While I clicked on MCM, it's my primary style but I also like Danish Modern, Asian modern, specifically the Japanese esthetic but will also have some antiques thrown in there for good measure and along with all of this, later 60's/70's era mod modern for good measure as well.
Can we say, ultra modern eclectic? :-)

Global suits me best, but I have a strong tendency towards modern details - particularly stripes. But Global allows the sense of lived-in cushy comfort I most appreciate. What good is an armless sofa? How do you lean back on it? Nap? Read? So uninviting.

I really can't put it into words...right now my place is just "Ikea Threw Up in Here." I know what my style isn't, but I'm having difficulty articulating what it is.

Me: 1920s as interpreted by 1970s San Francisco: golden beige as the dominant color, lots of things that might be mildly Deco, lots of things that are Asian, excessive numbers of chairs, aggressively quirky accessories, at least one animal print, fairly quiet and classic lines for major furniture to compensate for the quirkiness, and a bedroom that's tailored yet over-the-top.
There's an entire line of books by Diane Dorran Saeks that allows me to prove that, if I'm insane, at least I have lots of companionship.

im dying for him to paint that wall behind his tv... something subtle or bold, i don't care. i think it would be the final thing to bring it all together

Yes, I'm mid century - oh, and I'm a girl. I dream of being super minimal with a vintage industrial vibe...
I apologize for my lack of originality, but I LOVE the lines and asethetics of danish modern/mid century - and I'm so so broke. I have scavanged, thrifted, refinished, and craigslisted everything on a very limited budget. I do think mid century is wanning but, hey, its classic and can mix so well with a number of styles.
And I might tear down that wall, I hate it. I would like to paint the big wall next to it first and see how I feel. We just got back from vacation and need to catch up with the cure.
