Laure and I are so excited by this year's cure, it's practically all we've been talking about. A lot of people have already signed up. Are you one of them? Sign up here or, if you're shy, just check out our biweekly posts to follow along with us as we strike out on this adventure...

KimG924's before. All the elements are in place.
As with any adventure, we've got a list of things to do before we start. This weekend, we're finishing our preparations. Here's our list. Although it looks long, some of it's a jump on next week's tasks.
- Read through to page 69
- Take the AT Quiz on pages 42-44 of the book.
- Take pictures of your home and upload them to our Flickr page
- Determine your budget: The Cure is not about money, it's about spending time getting to know your home. We'll be showing you to do it economically.
- Will you be doing the Deep Treatment or the One Room Remedy?: We recommend the Deep Treatment for first timers
- Start a style tray Use a tray, a scrapbook or a box to gather your clippings. If you've never done one before, we suggest taking your style tray off line for hands-on experience.
- Figure out where you'll be buying fresh flowers every week: We like Trader Joe's because we're there anyway buying food.
- Pick a day next week to visit your favorite home store: Even if it's out of your budget, it's a great place to pick up ideas.
- Start a list of things that bother you in your apartment that need to get fixed: On our list? We're replacing all our lightbulbs with CFL's as they burn out.
- Determine where you'll put your outbox: we keep ours by the front door.
- Figure out one item to put out on the street:

We love the sunny summery feeling of HeyLucy's style tray, from the pops of yellow and green to the shiny surfaces

Has someone posted a link yet to the repair worksheet in Excel format? I know it's easy to recreate, but I remember there being one already done last year, and that link is no longer valid. Thanks :)

if my apartment photos and style tray are about the same as last year, is there a fast way to kick them up to the front (since i assume the ones in the pool are arranged by date)?

J.L.-I think the easiest way to do it is just remove them from the pool and re-add them. I could be wrong, but that's what I would do.
I'm working on my 'Fix-it' list, and I don't know if there are any electrical experts here, maybe you can help. I currently have two flourescent fixtures in the room I'm curing (the kind that take the long tubes), and I want to replace them with the ceiling lights in my style tray, above. Does anyone know if the wiring for flourescents is different than regular fixtures? If it's not, I can handle this on my own, but if so, then I'll need to call an electrition. I'm just trying to get some ideas for my budget :o) Thanks in advance for any advice!

I recently replace a standard fixture with a compact flourescent fixture and the wiring is identical. Just the socket and bulb are different.
Don't forget to turn off the power at the breaker. :-)

heylucy, I'm not an electrician but I have changed the long flourescent fixtures with a regular light and they do work off the same wiring. Just remember to shut off your power before doing anything.

I blogged my next step, but I wanted to also post here my "list" of things to fix:
1. The boyfriend and I need to come to a compatible agreement on desk space/paper handling
2. The boyfriend needs a place for his clothes, and maybe some of them need to be given away
3. The boyfriend needs to shred some stuff
4. Perhaps the kitchen needs some re-organization - it sometimes gets a little messy, like it's not easy to put everything in its place
5. I need to go through the two baskets of "stuff" sitting on the floor next to the bookcase
6. My biggest concern is that, looking at my 'ideal spaces' that I clip for my style tray, I seem to like clean, open, modern with a little touch of glam - but I feel like my place isn't even remotely like that. What I have is cluttered and jumbled - a mix of what I have for convenience. I'd like to at least get into a good starting position to begin making long haul decisions about style and design. Our personal economic crunch will only be a real issue until the house sells, and then we can make a few decisions about furniture together, and style together, and commit to actual purchase decisions based on taste and long term decisions....rather than 'we need to fix this now' - I guess this is the difference between the furniture types that Maxwell talks about in the book.

Thanks for the electricity info, gallupgirrl and kimg. I was looking at my fixtures this weekend, and it's kind of weird. There's a thick, white cord coming out of the ceiling, with a blue plug on the end, going into the fixture. I didn't pull it out to see what it looked like. Maybe I'll try to get a picture of it and post it in the flickr group.
I had a pretty productive weekend, I don't have a lot of room for a dedicated outbox, but I've already started going through stuff and have a carload with me today to drop off at Goodwill on my lunch hour. De-cluttering is going to be a huge part of the cure for me. I'm concentrating on curing my workshop, which has become a dumping ground for a lot of crap that we probably don't need. I can't even get to the "clean the floor" step until I get rid of a lot more stuff.
I also bought some pretty flowers for the house this weekend. Orchids from Trader Joe's were only $6.99 for a big bunch. They're not very Fall-like, but I like them :o)

I'm in the same situation as heylucy. Cleaning the floor is not even a remote possibility as I can only see about 50% of my floor at any given time. It's kind of appalling, confronting everything that I've managed to accumulate in my one-bedroom (but I guess that's what the cure was created for). At any rate, I should be making the folks at my local Out Of the Closet very happy :)
