Thankfully Fall has finally come to LA. The air is crisper, the days shorter, and the urge to nest is fierce. This week we're in the Kitchen doing a deep clean to jumpstart our new, healthier apartments. Since this Cure is full of collectors, we will no doubt fbe finding ourselves amidst a lot of stuff in the kitchen. So remember as you try to whittle it all down:
Do I use it? Do I love it? Does my apartment need it?

Your aim here is to end up with one matching set of dishes that you use (that you love!). If you need to finish out a set, note that on your repair worksheet.
So don't be afraid to toss/recycle/donate:
• Any food that is expired or unused for more than a year
• Cups, glasses or dishes that are chipped, stained, unmatching, extra or unused.
• Cookware, tupperware or contraptions that don't get used (that breadmaker seemed like such a good idea at the time, but now it's eating up counter/cabinet space).
If there are things you're uncertain about, put them in your outbox: this is where items get to rest while you work on the kitchen. You don't have to throw it away, just put it in your outbox. You'll revisit it later.

The table is crying out for a coat of paint; as it is, it looks like it's just being stored in the kitchen, waiting for somewhere it really belongs. Color is the the fastest, cheapest way to make it settle in (though, maybe not the least labor intensive).

FYI, the word you were attempting to use is spelled 'whittle'.
Interestingly, a quick (and possibly highly innacurate) search discovered that 'whiddle' is an out of use English word.

Since there is so much white in the kitchen already I think a nice bright color would add pop to the kitchen. Having a small space myself, I think the table is a good place to work.

Interesting kitchen in and of itself, especially with that hot water heater stuck in the corner next to the stove with a picture on top. :-)
I am in agreement, give that poor black table a bright color, such as a high glossy red or a blue or whatever color you choose, but something strong though. Then I'd find a cool modern shade/swag, perhaps from the 70's in a color that goes with it to bring a spot of light to it as well as bring the color up some. I've always loved old vintage kitchens left as is in white, but add shots of color ala the 70's through tubed lighting for the main overhead light, a supergraphic or super stylized photos on the walls (or perhaps a combination of the two), take off upper cabinet doors and let your dinnerware/glassware show instead. It's the mixture of the old fashioned and the modern that I think makes the space.
Just some thoughts I'd pass on. :-P
