LA Times 5.15.08

051508lat1.jpgToday's feature story in the LA Times Home & Garden is a remodel of a home in Tarzana, designed by architect Gregory Ain in 1963. Gregory Ain worked for Schindler and Neutra before branching out on his own in 1935. It finally sold for 16.84 million to an undisclosed buyer! It "...commanded the highest price of the American modernist houses recently sold as architectural collectibles."

Look! Mirror Underneath A Console
Country Living June 2008

Gardener's Supply Wet Pot Flower Pot

051308wetpot1.jpgA few weeks ago, Laure posted about houseplants, and here's an interesting find to add to that subject. We've seen some cool "self-watering" flower pots in the market recently, and this one is another for the list. The "Wet Pot" by Gardener's Supply (AT Chicago recently listed them in their store directory), consists of a a clear glass outer pot that gets filled with water, and a porous clay inner pot. The concept is that the plant absorbs the right amount of water it needs via the inner clay pot...

Lemon Oil for Keeping Shower Doors Clean?

050708lemonoil.jpgWhile looking into ways to clean our shower door, we came across Real Simple's take. They suggest "...After a thorough cleaning, an application of lemon oil will help serve as a shield from shower grime. Twice a month, apply a generous coating to the shower door with a soft cloth. (The best cloths to use are soft cotton rags or microfiber cleaning cloths.) Real Simple likes Holloway House Lemon Oil for the purity of its scent, but any lemon oil should work well. If the etching on the shower door is deep or prone to buildup, treat it with lemon oil once a week. This extra step will protect your glass or fiberglass door and freshen your shower between deep cleanings. "...
