
When we came across the Wheatsheaf House on Desire To Inspire we were immediately struck by the dramatic design. But it was also a sad reminder of all the beautiful bushland recently lost in the Victorian bushfires, so we thought we’d share this to show our overseas friends the strangely eerie yet calm Australian bushland that inspires many people to build weekend escapes – though not all as out there as this one. Ok we’re not feng shui masters and certainly haven’t ‘feng shui-ed’ our home, but due to adolescent dabbling, our bedrooms have always followed a few key points like bed positioning and avoiding pet fish in the bedroom (trust us, bad feng shui). So in the spirit of bedroom month, we’d like to share some advice on creating a calm, positive atmosphere for the room in which you rest, let go of the past day and start a new one in. One of the more unexpected gifts we received this Christmas was a body pillow. 
The serene, sun drenched apartment of Sydneysider Juliette Arent, nearly had this Melbournian consider decamping to the sunny city. Juliette is an interior designer of Arent & Pyke, and her own apartment is a testament to their style – clean, with personal touches that tell a story. It’s reconfirms what a classic base white walls and ceilings with dark wooden floorboards are to work up from. It’s also a nice change to see a minimal approach to hanging artworks.
