Welcome to September! This month's theme is "Kids Design"- All home design for babies, children, kids...rugrats, etc... Don't worry, we'll still be focusing on the rest of design, but will periodically feature things that are kid oriented. We'll start off with this interesting blog entry we spotted (via Mocoloco via Core77) of a "Homebrew baby safety gate" by Joel & Maria Pirela out of Florida. They said that "...there are a lot of options to close that path (at the top of the stairs) using very ugly devices called baby gates.... That's why I decided to take matters into my own hands..." They used simpe 1x2 poplar wood slabs, some plexiglass, and a latch from an outside patio door to create this stylish gate. Read the rest here.

This is great! I'm looking forward to reading about lots of baby design stuff. I hope the features will show modern designs that are actually affordable. So many modern baby furniture, clothing, decor, etc. is outrageously expensive.
