Ignoring the form factor, this is really a great product for germaphobes who detest touching toilet handles, even their own (I worked with a young lady who had never once cleaned her own bathroom because of the phobia). And this footpedal solution is completely analog in nature, no AC adaptor or wiring necessary. See how it works under the jump...

If you still haven't upgraded to a new digital toilet, don't despair! The Foot Flusher Retrofit Kit converts an old analog toilet into the hands-free foot-flushable toilet of tomorrow! Easy-to-install, the Foot Flusher adds a second flushing method to your toilet, unleashing the brave new world of foot-pedal flushing.

So where are the electrical wires?

Such a waste of money. Use a friggin square of TP to use when you touch the handle.
People don't realize when they use their foot they likely track in whatever they don't want to touch their hands with onto their floors.
That chick with the toliet phobia has problems. I hope she had a housekeeper.

"...unleashing the brave new world of foot-pedal flushing" umm.. are they serious?

This seems like a product of the Lillian Vernon catalog, or Finger Hut. You don't want that here.

I don't understand why you would need this in your home, but foot pedals on public toilets are great. I've never seen them in the U.S. but lots of public toilets in Europe have them. It's a better solution than the motion sensor flush, which often seem to be too sensitive and flush two or three times more than needed, wasting water.

So it works like a bicycle brake or something like that?

art: that's a great comparison...it does work very similar to an old bike break.

I can appreciate its function but it's so damn ugly.

Another unnecessary product destined for the waste bin.

I thought so too until a friend mentioned their father has a bad back and a similar device like this is helpful day to day (as someone who once suffered from sciatica, I definitely sympathize). It is surely not attractive, but affordable compared to the others I've seen online.

Why can't I think of these cool-like inventions?

A Chinese restaurant I frequent has foot pedals for the tap water in the toilets. That makes more sense. There are actually two pedals close together, one for hot and one for cold. Controlling the temperature is not hard.

Odd notion, but to each his own. But the outfit she's wearing - yikes!

For people with disabilities, the foot pedal is the worst.

Toilet handles are no more disgusting than door handles or anything in a public area (handrails, telephones, etc.)
Why are people so grossed out by their own bathrooms? They're _your_ germs. They aren't going to kill you! Use some Lysol and take some Zoloft.

Hehehe Luna...I thought I was the only one...
The outfit has to go!

i don't think the word "analog" is used correctly here.
