Hot or Not? Modernica Case Study Alpine Series Bed

The newest of Modernica's catalog of midcentury designs, the Case Study Alpine Series Bed is all about curves. The multi-ply bentwood walnut frame has an interesting appearance we're not sure whether to love or hate. From certain angles we love the simple grace, especially the curve where the base meets the headboard...

But from the foot of the bed, the Modernica Case Study Alpine Series Bed's skiing inspired form reminds us less about the winter sport and more of a large fork, the three lengthwise supports clawing upward to grasp the mattress. What do you think about this new design?

I'm with the author although the tines made me think of giant wooden fingers. I like the headboard and legs very well.

It's nice but the bed would have worked better it were a single piece of bent ply spanning to foot of the bed.

I also would've liked this better without the 'finger's curling up over the bottom.

I think the "fingers" are the best part! Definitely hot.

I would have preferred opposite headboards ala a sleigh or no headboard at all.

I like the fingers. I also like the bed, even though 'modern' is usually not my style at all. Angling the headboard slightly seems like a clever move.
That said, I figured it would be selling for some over-the-top price. Just checked out the link and, sadly, my guess was correct.

Looks like the mattress would slide out from either side.

Not sure if that bed would be a pain to make either. It might actually be really, really easy.

I really like it, but I would never desire to own it. However, as with lots of the hot or nots, while I vote 'not', I think the design is well thought out and beautiful. Therefore, hot! I like that there was a third option for this one.

I really like it, but still my favorite is Brass Beds by Original Bedstead. Its a UK based company and delivered bed at my doorstep without any delivery charge :) :)
