Stapelliege Stackable Bedding

Stapelliege-B-natur_atla1.jpg

Accommodating guests in a small apartment can be a tough situation for small space dwellers. There's always those inflatable beds, roll-out camping mats, converting couches and in our case, case study day beds. So we took a bit of interest when we saw this small space stackable bedding solution designed by Rolf Heide. The Stapelliege bed was specifically created with "smaller apartments, single dwellings and guest rooms" in mind, and is available in beech, birch and ash finishes for around $480 per frame, depending upon finish and size. Now if they'd only offer a conversion kit for a bunk bed....

Gregory, just how do you like your Case Study Daybed? We are contemplating one for our study (or better yet, two for our basement studio). Does it sleep well? Does your bum fall asleep when you sit on it? I recall a similarly-styled couch in our family room of my youth, and it was terribly uncomfortable for sitting. Perhaps a trip to DWR in Chicago is in order...

Oh, I love our Case Study bed. One of the most comments I get from guests, both for the day or overnight is "It's actually really comfortable! I thought it would be uncomfy from its minimal shape." And we use it every night to lounge around, watch TV and eat dinner at (since we don't have a dining room). I would definitely sit in one at a DWR showroom just to get an idea of the firmness too.

Does anyone know where to get these stackable beds in the United States? Ordering overseas is so difficult and you can't see the furniture before you buy. I live in NYC if anyone knows of a store here. Thanks
