HUNDE HUS Pet House and Bedside Table

Danish etsy seller MadsHome is offering one of the cutest, decor-friendly pet pieces we've seen. Yes, it's totally priced in the category of "whatchoo talkin' bout, Willis?!", but we're going to ignore the price and admire it for what it is: a simple and stylish design that merges two normally disparate elements in a pet owner's home. Each HUNDE HUS is handmade, comes with a sheepskin rug for your pet to snooze upon and can be custom painted for no additional cost...

“HUNDE HUS” is a modern pet sanctuary, that doubles as a bedside table and as a dog/cat bed and den.

Inside, the pet can snuggle up and is provided with a quiet, dark shelter and a matching cushion. The terrace offers a lookout spot with a cozy sheepskin.

Are you thinking what we're thinking? Yeah, totally a great weekend DIY project using some as-is IKEA parts, some paint, and your own choice in upholstered memory foam or faux sheepskin for a similar luxe pet napping spot.

That last pic, of the dog on the people bed and an empty high priced designer dog bed is my reality.

I'll never give in to the temptation of buying expensive furniture for my dog again. She only uses her current luxe bed for toy storage and hiding stuff she has stolen from me.

i love the last picture with the dog on the bed. and the perfect caption for this would be: no... i think i like THIS bed far more than that cube you call a doghouse. =P

Do people have dogs who wouldn't chew that sheepskin right up? I don't. This may just be a personal failing, though.

That said, this is too cute! I can totally see a DIY version of this in my future.

You could make this with painted plywood for not too much money.

I kind of like the idea of combining the dog bed (crate) with a bedside table, so they don't take up so much room. For a dog who's frightened of thunder and fireworks, this might provide a little sanctuary.

My dog, of course, would just continue to sleep on my bed. ::Sigh::

I can see this working out more for my cat than my dog. Like to dog in the picture series, he prefers my bed to his any day.

tracytracy, not a personal failing, dogs need to chew. maybe try redirecting. mine loves a cheap tennis ball to chew on, helps relieve anxiety. On the post, I think it's a cute idea, and my dogs seem to like a small safe space of their own...but they wouldn't like something quite that small.

Dogs like to curl up in a bed with softer sides--like in their dens, when they were wild. But this doesn't seem to provide that. Love the color, and I do appreciate the reference to the insane price. So often AT bloggers ignore that part.

This dog bed was posted during Pet Month; I remember because the wall became a hotter topic than the actual dog bed. It is a pretty hot wall.

This is a no-go for me; my cat sleeps on my bed and has access to my bedroom during the day, but at night it's just for my husband and me. I love my cat, but she's in my way and on my laps all day long, so I enjoy some free time at night.

The wall, on the other hand...

Yeah I remember when this was posted before. AT covered the wall as it was a DIY project - incredibly involved though.

OH the IKEA sheepskin lined patio is part of it? I think I would like it better as just the box.
