Bread Boxes

We recently read that keeping bread in the refrigerator actually accelerates staleness. Apparently the best way to store bread is in a dark, not too damp or dry place to allow the bread to slowly release moisture. Here are a few stylish options that can save the day:

Eva Solo Bread bin (around $100) The flap is flexible plastic, with stainless steel base and sides.

Nigella Lawson Bread bin ($69.99) The cover also doubles as cutting board.

Typhoon "Retro" metal enameled bread bin($49.95) In shocking pink for your "dough" .... daddy-o.... (sorry, couldn't resist)

And finally, the Westinghouse ToasterBox ($49.99) Toaster and breadbox in one- it even has a vented cooling system to keep the breadbox at room temperature while toasting.

Best place to keep bread is in the microwave oven. It has just the right amount of airflow to keep bread from going stale or moldy for a long time. Really. It's true.
