2005_9_27_pampa.jpgPampa Furniture has been filling big LA homes since 1990. With its own manufacturing plant and three showrooms, Pampa not only showcases their own "contemporary/country" style of furniture, but they can also build furniture to fit your specific needs.

PAMPA.jpgThere are an abundance of finishes available, including some great lacquer colors for the new “high-end, mod” look that everyone wants. They also have an eclectic mix of one-of-a-kind imports from all over the world (see desk, left).

While the style can seem a bit clunky, especially for a small space, if you have a large space that needs filling, Pampa is worth checking out.

The furniture is good but the customer service is woeful. The store arranged delivery for us with someone they recommended and we have had days of run around with no-show deliveries. It turns out that the piece we bought was either damaged (or sold to someone else) and a replacement was made in the meantime. Unfortunately it took much longer than anticipated and the store was dishonest about what was going on.

I have to agree with previous postings. The customer service with Pampa is absolutely terrible. Nothing that I ordered was delivered when they said it would be (although my credit card was charged immediately). When I called the store, I was told to contact the customer service number. When I called that number, no one answered the phone. I left a message, but no one ever got back to me. I went back to the store. The salesperson was very kind and promised to call me the next day...it's three days later and I'm still waiting. I'm considering contacting the FCC. I would not recommend doing business with this company. Since placing my order, I've spoken with over a half dozen people who have had negative experiences, and who will never do business with Pampa again. Please...be warned.

DO NOT SHOP AT PAMPA! They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They delivered our bed over a month late and it was the wrong bed. They never credited it my card back - I had to go through the credit card company. It was absolutely miserable. Please please please do not do business with these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

All of these comments remind me of my experience at Pampa. The sales people are so charming and sweet while you are shopping and signing the papers, but after that, forget it. They are dishonest, you get the total run-around, and the furniture looks better than it actually is. It starts to fall apart soon afterward. I've had to have items replaced because they were poorly made. I would NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. Also I would never tell my friends to buy anything from them. I hate to say it, but I've had a love seat from from Ikea last longer and look better ! (than my pampa sofa)

I totally agree with all four comments! What is with this store? I know customer service isn't dead, but obviously the last bit of dirt has covered this store's grave. Pampa does have some interesting stuff but they should feel a little gratitude towards their customers and show it! I own a business and strive to keep my customers completely satisfied and happy. After all, repeat clientele is so important for a retail business. If they had any sense, they would know this too. I also felt that they were very nice when I placed my order, but when it came to the delivery and the quality, I have to agree that it just wasn't good. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else!

Please DO NOT shop at Pampa. We ordered an entire bedroom set about two months ago. Not only did they deliver it late, but it was all wrong. We recieved the wrong armiore, a damaged dresser, and the bed sounds like it is about to break if you even slightly touch it. To top it all off, not one piece was stained to the color we picked. After dozens of phone calls, and the constant run around, we will be going to small claims court to get our money back. I just happened to look up this site and feel justified now that we are doing the right thing getting our money back. Don't be fooled by kind sales people, and the appearance of good furniture at a reasonable price.

i've purchased lots of furniture from pampa over the years. when ever there is something missing at home or when my kids moved out i always thougth of Pampa. i can't believe all the comments i just read. there is only one good thing said about Pampa. sometimes they do take a little longer on the orders but they have always worked something out for me. i've placed custom orders in the past and sometimes they don't come out the way "i pictured it," but it was a magnificent piece-something i could live with.
I would defenetly shop there again and recommend it to all my friends.

A few months ago I did a search on Pampa, came across this site and read all these comments. I decided it wouldn't be worth the hassle to deal with Pampa given the overwhelmingly negative experiences recounted here.

My wife and I visited the new Living Spaces warehouse in Van Nuys; there were a couple pieces that caught our attention and of course the whole 'Buy today.. Enjoy tonight!!' catchphrase was rather tempting. We put those pieces on our shortlist, and decided to sleep on it..

On our way home we found ourselves in Sherman Oaks and decided to swing past... you guessed it.. Pampa! The 50% "Recession Sale" was like a magnet, and we found ourselves Ooh'ing and Aaah'ing over some designs that seemed EXACTLY our style.

We did the math and figured we'd get exactly the same amount of furniture as at Living Spaces for just a few dollars more. The main difference would be the quality - varnished Living Spaces particleboard vs sturdy handmade Pampa investments. A no brainer... right?

I somehow managed to let a very persuasive sales assistant convince me that any negative feedback was the exception, not the rule, and that HE would be MY GUY to get the furniture delivered in 2 weeks, 3 at the absolute maximum.

In the 2nd week we received two enthusiastic calls from our sales guy, reassuring us he was pressuring 'main office', he was our advocate, the proverbial squeeky wheel who could make things happen.

In the 3rd week he left a voicemail, noticeably less energetic, but still on the case... "..any day soon.." came the slightly strained but upbeat reassurance.

Week 4.... radio silence.

Week 5.... Calls to the Sherman Oaks showroom are met with a pause, muffled conversation with phone pressed against chest and then "....he can't come to the phone right now, but if you'd like to call the main office their number is.."

We are deep into week 6 and not a single piece of furniture has been delivered... The main office did leave a message stating "... order volume has been very heavy. Your furniture will be delivered.....ummmm........probably, almost definitely by next week..."

Ooookaayy... thanks guys.. very reassuring.

I've often wondered what it would have taken for me to be absolute in my resolve to take my business anywhere BUT Pampa. I'm not sure I know the answer, but certainly hope this personal experience is enough for someone smarter than me - someone smart enough to learn from other peoples misfortune. I did the research, made note of the consistently appalling way they treated their customers, and then I decided "I'm the exception! It won't happen to ME"

I have only myself to blame.

Of course the comparison between Living Spaces and Pampa furniture wasn't a valid one - there are plenty of other quality furniture stores in LA I should have compared Pampa against.. Of course I realize that now..... *sob*

I'll report back if/when the furniture arrives. My only remaining hope I cling to is that the furniture will be wonderful and full of all the personality and charm it seemed to hold under those showroom lights. If that is the case, years from now as we enjoy our hand crafted investments, my wife and I won't even remember the 2 weeks that turned into months....

....ummm, maybe the complaints of poor quality ..won't apply to me! I'll be the exception!! Right??!

"pattern of denial"? No idea what you mean!

..stay tuned..

These people are crooks and liars. Save yourself the headaches and go somewhere else. They robbed me for over $500. I ordered a table which never came and when I went to the store they tried to tell me I had ordered something else. It got so ridiculous that I thought I was on hidden camera tv show.

I ended up leaving the store without the table I had ordered and the sneaky sales people and b*tchy manager charged my credit card for the remaining balance of the table I didn't receive.

Long story short. These people are crooks. Do NOT accept a store credit from them. It's worthless each time I went back to try to buy something their computer didnt work or they couldnt bring up my purchase. They illegally charged my credit card 3 times. It was a complete mess. Avoid them at all costs.
