Los Angeles has always had a reputation of having a unique perspective when it comes to living. This holds true to decor, and the September 2007 issue of
California Home + Design centers on this L.A. Style. The
cover feature is of a Australian born writer, who asked the creative guys at
Sundayland to design his Hollywood Cottage. Sundayland is an LA based furniture design firm known for their inventive and playful pieces (we've featured them on
AT:LA before.)
We love the irreverent use of colors and pattern throughout the home. Everything from the unexpected "Briar Rose" dress sculpture by artist Caz Love in the purple/green living room, to the suspended potted cactus coming out of the kitchen wall, to the tongue in cheek 80's floral wallpaper in the dining room, screams fearless and fun, and a great reminder that it's ok to not take everything in life so seriously.
Other highlights in this issue include:
•pg 114. A goregous tour of the recently renovated classic Lautner Wolff house
•pg 137. A Malibu Beach house that has Old World warmth
The September 2007 issue of California Home + Design is on newstands now.
