Blogging Decorating Cents: Episode 2812

Last night's Decorating Cents on HGTV, featured an interesting guest bedroom makeover. They went for a "Mod Woodland" theme, which could have been inspired by Jane & Darko's space from last year's Smallest Coolest. While I didn't think everything turned out that successful (especially a lot of the accessories- and the flowers totally killed it for me), they did have some fun DIY project ideas worth mentioning.

For the headboard, they used industrial roofing/siding, which they painted and bolted to the wall The pillows with the deer graphic was actually created by printing a silhouette onto iron-on transfer paper via a copy store.

I'm not sure yet how I feel about the bedside lamp, but it was a fun idea. They used a simple hanging light cord kit, and suspended it inside an oversized vase. For the walls, they painted graphic trees, which were pretty easy to create, using masking tape. I think the concept of this could be really fun as an alternative to just painting simple stripes. Click here to see the other projects they did.

That headboard is certainly for someone who does not read in bed!
