Blogging... In-Style Home: Campbell Brown's apartment

100907_instyle1.jpgEasy Breezy Color. The latest issue of InStyle Home features the apartment of CNN anchorwoman Campbell Brown. Her home is light and warm with plenty of color- and it's her use of color that really struck with us...

All of the color is really pulled from the large scale artwork that is throughout the home. And what makes the artwork special is that it was all created by her mother, artist Dale Fairbanks. By keeping the walls white, she provided a gallery effect for the artwork, but warmed things up by adding in neutral colored foundation pieces. She then used an array of pop colors as accents. Because the artwork is so vibrant and multi-hued, you can throw almost anything in the mix, and it totally works in the space. Check out the rest of the article in the issues. There's also some fun ideas on decorating from designer Sophie Conran, as well as the housetour of Molly Sims that we mentioned earlier this week.

Have you approached your home decor similar to Campbell's? Show us!! This is the last weekend to prepare as entries for the Color Contest ends on Monday!! Three people in LA are destined for prizes so take some pics and send them in! (all info and details here.)

God there's so much white but that first pic still feels so cozy. It's a great reference for having a balance of soft and hard features in a room!

You're absolutely sure this isn't another 1970s magazine shoot?

Certain? Cross your heart and hope to die?

Some good things happened in the 70s, design-wise. For example, check out those old Woody Allen movies -- Annie Hall, Manhattan. Yes, they liked to hang lots of ferns up and use brown (which is trendy again) way too much, but it wasn't all bad. If the above pictures are supposed to be 70s, I'm all for that.
