The January Jumpstart here at AT has motivated many of us to tackle a bunch of projects we've been wanting to do. One of our favorite sources for inspirational DIY is of course, Readymade Magazine. The February/March 2008 issue is themed "Get Organized" and it has a bunch of good solutions and projects to check out...
The first one that caught our eye was created by Todd Oldham. This "Periodical Table" uses a bunch of wooden Ikea MACKIS magazine holders. He simply cut some plywood for a backing and base, mounted the magazine racks in a staggered configuration, and added some SIGFRID shelving brackets as legs. Its a great way to organize various sized magazines in one cohesive area. We love the fun color blocks, and can think of lots of other variations on this theme. It looks like Readymade hasn't updated their website yet with this new issue, but you can read the entire how-to instructions in the February/March 2008 issue on newstands now.

I hate this magazine, but i LOVE this idea. Guess i'll swallow my pride and go buy this issue.

am i the only one who sees this as nothing more than a bunch of magazine racks stacked on top of each other? i'm finding it hard to get excited over this. then again, a lot of these things tend to shoot right over my head...so i may be completely blind to the novelty here.

no, I feel the same way, plann.b
although, I do think it might look cool in a more utilitarian craft/office type room to mount them directly to the wall in the colorblock pattern...

Actually, I think this is pretty clever... Hrm. Maybe I'll go out and pick this issue up...

wouldn't it be difficult to get the magazines out of the ones surrounded by other magazine holders?

But they're not really stacked, they're attached to a board on the back, right?
