A Fashionable Life features the home of J.Crew designer Jenna Lyons Mazeau, an inside look at a party thrown by wedding planner Mimi Van Wyck, some recommendations from Martha Stewart for dining, and as mentioned, the cover story is of Kelly Wearstler, and her new home renovations, as well as her new line of home accessories. I can't help but compare this issue, although only a "supplement", with the recent "special issue" of American Vogue Living. (Note: I love Vogue Living Australia, but sadly the American counterpart was soooo not the same... or even close?)

Both obviously have a major focus towards fashion, but I found the Bazaar version actually showed more home products and decor ideas than Vogue Living. What annoyed me about Vogue's themed product pages was that there were too many shoes, jewelry and dresses mixed with just a few home accessories thrown in. Bazaar used a runway photograph as color/theme inspiration, and then filled the rest of the page with furniture and decor items that matched it. Vogue Living's visual layout seemed kind of collage-y, with lots of things going on, whereas, Bazaar's was a little more structured and cleaned up. Both showed very luxurious and über high end lifestyles. Vogue Living felt a little more on the classic traditional side with a little bohemian eclectic thrown in, and Bazaar had a little of that too, but felt a little more skewed towards modern. In the end, I was much more drawn into Bazaar's presentation, and would be more inclined to continue to watch for it, should they consider turning it into a more regular feature.
