Our new favorite blog right now is Nestled In by Katja and Minna. The idea behind their blog was to document the beginning stages of living together for the first time--all the ups and downs of creating a home together, as well as their plans, ideas, and dreams. Their apartment, located in Northern Finland, is constantly evolving yet still reflects the combination of their tastes. Take a look at some of our favorite photos after the jump...

This table once belonged to Katja's grandparents. Despite the original mismatched colors (greenish blue top and varnished brown legs), the dining table height, and the fact that it wasn't what they particularly would buy; this vintage peasant-style table still had a lot of potential-- and it was free. Before moving it into their living room, they cut the legs shorter so they could use it as a coffee table and then painted it a high-gloss white to give it a more updated, modern look. See their
coffee table DIY post here.

Another great example of finding old chairs and giving them new life. These chairs were rescued from their grandparents' summer cottage, and fits beautifully in their home. We love the simplicity of the chairs emphasized by the white coat of paint. The cat is a nice touch, too.

The dining area doubles as a relaxing work area. We're jealous of their windowsill garden and the amount of light that comes through in the late afternoon.

The bedroom. The soft grey walls seem to be compatible with strong hues, like this bold red and white graphic circle bedding. But what we love about this room is the mismatched sides: the lamps may be different styles and the art arrangement asymmetrical, but it seems to sum up the individual personalities of this couple while still being harmonious.
Check out all of Katja and Minna's great DIY projects and the progression of their home at Nestled In and on their Flickr.
I have the same Ashleyg bird print that you have above your bed and I LOVE it. Adorable house!

It is an adorable house.. ove the cottage feel and light. The only thing is the hanging of the pictures and art makes me a bit crazy. I love the bird print buts it just floating in a big space, I don't get the little tiny pictures hanging above each night stand. I thing it would look better to bring them all together in a group with the bird print as the focal... sorry its the early years when I worked in a art gallery and i do notice this quit often here.
