Blogging...MadeByGirl's Chalkboard

090808_chalkboard.jpgYou may remember Jen Ramos from her Love Candy prints or from her blog, MadeByGirl. We just found her house tour posted on her blog, and her fancy chalkboard caught our attention. It's got potential to be a fairly easy DIY project (we're not sure if it was originally), especially if you're looking for an alternative to the generic boards or always wanted (but were afraid to) chalkboard-paint your walls.

If you've got an old picture with an ornate vintage frame, you could get a piece of masonite cut to fit the frame, and coat that with chalkboard paint. Then, paint the frame white (or any color, really), wait for it to dry, and then pop the masonite in the frame.

Check out Jen's glimpse of her home on her blog, MadeByGirl.

P.S. I actually bought this one from Blue Bell Bazzar on Etsy. I actually made the large wall chalkboard that you see in this post:

Thanks!

how coincidental! i was honest to goodness making something like this on sunday... my frame is all painted, and my chalkboard paint lying in wait... i just need to go out and get a board on wednesday! (though i was using a frame i picked up at ikea, after my search for frillier frames went south)

(ps. i planned on hanging it in my kitchen so my boyfriend and i could right our shopping list on it as we think of things we need, in leu of a whiteboard or some sort of refrigerator post-it madness)

I bought an old mirror in a cool ornate frame but the mirror was really wonky and you couldn't see in it. I put the chalkboard paint directly onto the mirror and it totally worked!
