Bet you didn't know that Toyota had a pre-fab green home division, did you? Turns out that the Japanese company, who've thrown a monkey wrench into Detroit's hold on the American car market, has their eye on the housing market as well. And with their green and tech friendly saavy, this is a wagon we'd like to jump on...
The aim, underscored by the prospective launch of gas-hybrid plug-in electric vehicles, is a home that would interface with your car. It could even be coded to use the same key. The car would charge up during off-peak hours while it's battery would serve as the home's external power source if needed (a good idea considering LA's annual rolling blackouts). And, icing on the cake? Earthquake resistant. Our only question: where do we sign up? For more information, read the entire article here.

Not very affordable, just like every other prefab out there.

Leave it to the Japanese!
And BTW, it's Detroit's own fault for losing ground here.
Toyota is saving the very city it ushered into decline by building a massive manufacturing plant near here (Ann Arbor).

Very cool idea!
I just wish that there were prefab homes in styles that I liked more. It's such a good idea, but I am so drawn to non-modern exteriors.
