Actress Jennifer Carpenter's home in Laurel Canyon is featured in the Summer 2008 issue of O at Home Magazine. It's her first house and she enlisted the help of a college friend. who's also a decorator, Ariel Ashe, to give "...the boho bungalow a modern makeover." (more pics after the jump)...

We're loving the eclectic mix of pieces, both vintage and modern (totally drooling over the stack of felt rock pillows!), but really were attracted to the punches of bright color used throughout the space. One fun idea shown was the use of a large scale arched floor lamp in lieu of a chandelier, ".... no drilling or extra wiring required."

One quote we enjoyed from the article is "... sometimes those little things... whether earthy pottery that complements your countertops, or, yes, even mosquito netting to dress up an air mattress- that make the difference in how you live your life." Check out the rest of the article

I see a lot of cliches. Do all these decorators have a checklist?

i love how whenever a house tour features a single eames piece there's always at least one person complaining about clichés and trends. whatever. cute place. i hate the dining room.

Looks a little like Pee Wee's Playhouse.

Cute but I could not live without window coverings. In a perfect world, I wouldn't have any but the possibility of people looking in the windows at night just isn't safe.

Like Duckumu, I'm not impressed with the dining room, but otherwise this place feels like a winner. It's cheerful, light, and fresh--exactly what one might expect for a young actress, or a middle-aged nonprofit manager.

@duckumu It's not just the Eames, it's the Pantone, the bullet planter, the Saarinen table, the cow hide rug. In the actual piece, the backyard tipi is the most interesting item in the house.
