Organize Underneath Your Vanity
Blogging... Better Homes and Garden March 2008

031208bhg1.jpgHere's a little inspiration for any of you doing the cure on your bathroom or if you just need a little visual motivation. Inside the March 2008 issue of Better Homes and Gardens, there's a "Get Organized" section that give some ideas on getting your undersink cabinet under control...

031208bhg.jpgOne of the more interesting ideas they recommended was using lazy susans. We have a lazy susan in our kitchen cupboard to hold our spices, but never thought to use one in the bathroom! It's a great way to provide easy access for those hard to reach items. Has anyone done this in their bathroom? Check out more ideas in the March 2008 issue of Better Homes and Gardens.

I have two small boxes from IKEA (I think they're supposed to be for CD/DVD storage) that I keep under my sink. One has cleaning supplies and the other has hair/body products. Having them in boxes making taking things out and putting things away easier because I don't end up knocking stuff over.
Then I have a wire shelf with a half-size wire shelf on top of it (the ones from the container store) where I store my miscellaneous and regularly used products, like toilet paper.

Wow - the lazy susan idea is great! We have such a small under-counter space, and I'm always vainly trying to find things that have been stuffed in there. Nice idea.

Beautiful - very inspiring. Although it seems they could have used more of the vertical space under the cabinet. I wonder if they could hang something on the wall under there?

I'll get right on that - just as soon as I finish wallpapering the inside of my bathroom cabinets...

Doesn't anyone else buy those 24 packs of toilet paper? After I cram those puppies under the sink, there's just enough room for a bottle of mouthwash and box of Q tips.

I have way more stuff than that. Laundry detergents for hand washables, talcum powder, vinegar, stain remover, extra shampoo and conditioner, curling iron. That's just the stuff under the sink. Of course my cabinet is smaller.

I have the Under Sink Cabinet Caddy and it works well for me. It has the separate compartments to help organize under the vanity, but it also will save tons of money if my sink ever started leaking for any reason. The only problem is it basically guarantees that you won't be able to use the vertical space that stephanieokay was talking about.
