Painting Ikea Furniture
Living Etc. July 2008

061108livingetc.jpgJust add color! We immediately tabbed this page while flipping through the July 2008 issue of Living Etc. It's part of a spread about using pastels in modern ways. We love the color combination and was surprised to find out that most of the pieces in this grouping were from IKEA. They simply painted them in various shades, including the table top. It gives them an entirely fresh and new look. Which reminds us...

Yesterday on AT:Chicago, there was a good question about painting IKEA's popular LACK shelves. Commenters gave a bunch of great tips, which could also be applied to painting other IKEA pieces. Check out the post here. Have any of you painted your IKEA pieces with success? Share your tips here!

Painting Ikea furniture is a natural--after all, most of it looks like unfinished furniture anyway.

This is why I've grown to love Living Etc. over the past few months. I've noticed many more affordable options in its last 4 issues than I have in years of Domino or other shelter magazines. The idea of using higher-priced settings as inspiration isn't lost on me, but its nice to see items in magazine layouts which are more accessible.

That appears to be a huge shopping bag from Laduree under the table - how many macarons did they have to buy to get that?
