How could we be so late to the game? Martha Stewart, along with the 6 billion other projects she has going on, also maintains a pretty informal semi-personal blog (and has since last year).
Topics range from collecting to maintaining her garden to how many different kinds of salt she keeps next to the stove. We got a kick out of her posting on getting a chandalier hung. We like that she shows a side of herself that is more human than the perfectly polished person we're all used to. I mean, she's not even wearing any makeup in the picture! A good reminder that all that perfection is largely for the cameras and not something to try and maintain daily (we mean for homes and keeping house, not putting on makeup!).
What do you think of her blog? Have you been keeping up with Martha?
This was the first I'd heard of it, so I just checked it out. Unfortunately, her own writing has traditionally been the weakest part of her magazine, and this blog is more of the same, except it's not even edited--so I won't be bookmarking it. Looks like she's got plenty of fans anyway, though. More power to her.

I have nothing against convicted felons, per se, but come on! She got an illegal stock tip because she is rich and has rich friends, and then she lied to the cops about it. Being rich is fine. Buying and selling stock is fine. But we all lose when insiders can trade on information before it is public, and we all lose even more when people try to lie to investigators trying to determine when and if a crime has taken place. She is a crook and a lier. There are better people to "keep up with."

I love Martha. I may not look to her for ethical stock buying, but she rocks when it comes to cleaning, cooking and housekeeping. I love that she's not wearing makeup in that photo. She's no spring chicken, and it doesn't matter anymore. She's smart and talented and I like how thorough she is in her research. I'll be visiting her blog. Not everyday but I will stop by whenever the mood strikes.

She has paid her debt to society and then some. Anyone can make a mistake and I think she took full responsibility for hers. I also don't understand prejudiced hate aimed at people who have money. She pulled herself up through hard work, determination and sacrifice from fairly humble beginnings. I don't see that as a reason to damn her.
Now, as for her blog - I think it is a great source for learning new things.

This would be 100 times better if it was fake, a la Fake Steve Jobs.
"Found a speck of dust on the baseboard today. Husband has disowned me. Anyone have a couch I can crash on?"
"If anyone have any insider stock tips, please email me. ROFL J/K!!!!! (No, seriously. I could use the cash.)"
"Here's a tutorial for how to make a wonderful, fragrant wreath for Spring! Except it's sort of lame because I'm sooo stoned today. Sorry, guys."
...ok, maybe my jokes aren't quite ready for primetime yet...

Martha mentions her blog almost everyday on her show...
It would be much more entertaining if she didn't tell us what was on the blog each day so they were little nuggets of insider Martha wisdom, instead of knowing what I'll find when I visit the site each day!

Who knew Martha could draw such ire...I mean, seriously, she's not the first or the last who has done such things, and unlike most of the other people, she actually did time. Not that I go around garnering sympathy for moguls, but I still felt like she got a bum rap.
I don't know if I'll be visiting with all the other blogs out there, but I do like a little Martha every now and again, felon or no.

i don't get to watch her show because i don't have time for sitting in front of t.v. much anymore, but i do enjoy her blog for a bit more personal aspect of her. sure she's made mistakes but who hasn't? and i think her work {& her enormous staff's work} are very inspiring.

I agree wholeheartedly with Arran. Martha Stewart has made
living a bit more aesthetically pleasing and easier to cope with and I find nothing wrong with that. She has given me a lot of great ideas and inspiration and if the blog adds more, so much the better.

Martha Stewart's show was the first thing that I remember being interested in, design-wise. I totally wanted her lifestyle! I've developed my own lifestyle and decorating style since then which continues to evolve as I find new interests and new inspirations. Still, I have a soft spot for MS, and I've bookmarked her blog to see how it goes.
