SeenON! The source for products seen in films

Movies are always a great source for inspiration. We refer to them all the time here on AT:LA, and we often get questions on where one can find a certain item they saw in a scene from a film. Well, we just got an email introducing us to SeenON! which is a website that works with the set decorators of films to bring you the same (or similar) products that were used on the sets. Currently, the site has been mainly going at it from the fashion perspective, but now are moving onto set decor. They are launching this category with the recent, The Nanny Diaries movie. (Did anyone see it?)...continued

You can shop the sets in several ways. You can browse the sets, and click on certain areas, and matching products show up in a window on the right, or you can shop by a character in the film, or you can shop via "Shopisodes", which is a video application that allows you to simultaneously shop for products seen in the footage as you view it. Check out this link to experience it for yourself. Let us know what you think of the concept in the comments...

okay okay, i'll admit it....i made my BF drop me off at the theatre so i could see The Nanny Diaries! i read the reviews and knew it was going to be bad (they totally effed up the story), but i mostly wanted to check out the art direction and the sets...

there were lots of things i coveted and i thought they did a GREAT job with the X's apartment. overall, however, i was really disappointed. i felt like the entire movie fell short of what it could have been. i was so excited to see the Nantucket house, but they hardly showed anything but the outside and the kitchen (for a minute-long scene). i was disappointed that Nanny (aka Annie in the movie, boo) lived w/ the Xes, because I thought they could have done something really fabulous with her tiny shared apartment (like taken some tips from AT!). i thought the living area of the Xes apartment could have been a little more "overdone" though and made it a bit stuffier in a posh way. I ALSO really wanted to see HH's apartment, because as i remember in the book, it was in the same building, but had a totally different feel than the X's classic. wasn't his apt remodeled and more of a modern, open loft? would have been nice to see lots of different, rich places to get the feel that (N)Annie really was out of her league, as she felt she was in the story...

i did love much of the set though- the wallpapers in the foyer, the kitchen (which is dead-on how i'd pictured it while reading the book), and several other things that i can't remember at the moment.

I saw the movie last night and was admiring those living room chairs - the upholstered ones with wood trim. It's nice to know there's a site where you can find out about these things...

Maybe I can now find out about the kitchen cabinets in that Meg Ryan/Hugh Jackman movie "Kate and Leopold."
