While flooring brings distinction and warmth to a room, it is the rug that pulls everything together, keeping furniture from “floating about”. If accessories are the icing on the cake, than a good rug is the pedestal stand.

Rugs also have the unfortunate distinction of being unbearably expensive. This is an investment like a piece of art, or a good piece of furniture. Imitations will never cut it with Oriental rugs, but if you can afford the real thing, what luck you have!
