Electrolux Ultra Silencer by Pia Walln

Snow White What is it about things that are white on white that makes them so... cool?! Swedish designer, Pia Wallen (most famous for her felt slippers that made the rounds of the blogosphere recently- click here to see AT:Chi's take on them) was asked to design a limited edition of the Ultra Silencer vacuum cleaner by Electrolux. According to her website, because the Ultra Silencer is supposed to be so quiet, she was inspired by "the most beautiful sound she knows... the sound of falling snow."

So she made the whole thing white. But what I really love are the bright orange accents, like the one on the cord!. It reminds me of something out of 2001:A Space Odyssey, but I guess were supposed to be reminiscent of the guide poles in Sweden that mark pathways in the snow. I haven't been able to find any info if this edition will be available in the US, but it's apparently going to be available in the UK starting in September. Quiet vacuums are nice but unfortunately None of Electrolux's models pass the Carpet and Rug Institute's "Green Label" test program.

Electrolux actually puts out "Green Label" models under their Sanitaire line.
