First Thing You Do After You Clean?

060408_clean.jpgAfter hours of getting your home in spotless (or near-spotless) shape, what's the first thing you do to enjoy it? Once we wind down from "cleaning mode," we usually flop on the sofa in the living with a cup of tea and catch up on some reading. It helps us take a moment to really enjoy our home in its best state. How about you? What do you do after your home is clean?

usually my house isn't clean till about 5 minutes before my boyfriend gets home from work, then he walks in and leaves a trail of clothes and mail and pocket change from the front door all the way to the other end of the house. siiiiiiiiiiigh!

My favorite thing to do is spruce up the entrance to my place--plant some flower in pots, sweep off the porch, refill the bird feeder--then sit in my rocking chair on the porch with my dog on my lap and a glass of something cold in my hand.

Greet guests at the front door.

I usually don't let things get really messy (except in my studio where I can close the door), but if I have just cleaned the whole house, it's because guests are coming. I'm not sure why I do this because my messy house is cleaner than any of my family member's clean house.

Have a few friends over for dinner and or dessert. It's boring having a clean house all to myself.

Take a shower because I feel gross after all that cleaning. Then I relax and watch tv or read.

Is gloat an acceptable answer? Maybe I can shine it up into "bask."

I enjoy the clean space! Read a book, rearrange things, watch a movie, start a new project. Sometimes I take a picture of the clean living space.

take a shower and either go get some breakfast or curl up on the couch with a movie magazine or book.

sometimes it leads me to clean the rest of my apartment... then i just go to bed! haha.

I feel once all the spaces are cleared off, I will be invigorated to take on something that will make a huge mess, be it cooking or crafting/arting or approaching some larger project I can finally see the way clear to. Since I just cleaned, I will put off cleaning up that big mess, and pay later. If I am cleaning in the zone, really, I will just keep finding things that need to be done, or I will justify quitting short of done and be really lazy.

lol my littlest kids are 2 and 3. run out of chores to do. the problem is finding time to get things done as toddlers demand constant attention. every night when they are both asleep i relax with a cup of tea and my tivo'd design show reveals though. i sneek to my computer and checkl the new apartment therapy posts all day long. it is my addiction. calories free and doesn't cost a cent ! :)

I love climbing into my fresh sheets in my clean bedroom after I've just showered and shaved my legs. Heaven!

For the rest of the house I either get flowers or decide to make a really nice dinner.

Take a shower, then relax with a cold drink, while watching television or reading a book.

continuously comment to my husband about how amazing the house feels when it's clean, and how happy it makes me. Repeated drilling into his head = neater husband, possibly.

Look around and tell myself "that's it -- never letting it get messy again."

That lasts for all of 24 hours before I'm creating some new mess.
