Pricey? Yes. Unnecessary, yup. Likely to bring a smile amongst your neighbors as you take out the trash on collection day? Almost guaranteed. Happy Sacks offers two Wieden + Kennedy designed bags: a dessert themed Christmas pudding and our favourite, goldfish in a bag...
$16 is pretty steep for what comes down to a box of garbage bags (12), especially when factoring in shipping and handling over the pond. But something tells us the people at Target and their design-minded ilk will soon pick up on this idea and we'll see similar takes on this idea. Us? We just want plain trash bags that don't tear apart as we walk down our stairs on trash day...
This is ridiculous. What a waste. Pun not intended.

This might be a good idea for wrapping hard-to-wrap gifts such as large stuffed animals. Otherwise, I'd feel too guilty for wasting the money.
As far as "impressing the neighbors" is concerned, they'd probably think you were saying "look at me, I have way too much money."

Jack-o-lantern leaf bags for whitetrash decorating have been around for ages. This Christmas Pudding version doesn't seem to be particularly clever.

Whoa whoa whoa, since when are jack o lantern leaf bags white trash? They are about the easiest thing to use to decorate for halloween, you already gotta rake up the leaves, might as well have them useful for something and cute at the same time. This however is stupid, you use too many garbage bags every week, let alone every year for this to be worth it, plus (at least where I live) we just transfer the bag from one can to a bigger can... the holiday pudding doesn't even look like anything to me. Agree that the fish one would be funny for some kind of gift wrap.

lolz, and when have u ever managed to get ur trash round, only if ur throwing away a bag of balls (and probably not even then) would they stay that shape.

shouldn't we all be using biodegradable trash bags at this point? at least when it comes to the huge kitchen/lawn size bags?

Although I agree this is a bit over the top, I do like the idea of non-black/white trash bags!
Wasn't there some guy in New York that did an "art project" by handing out pink trash bags for people to use? And they were biodegradable, too!

krunkinator, i also despise orange garbage bag "pumpkins." i think it's cheesy and godawful. why spend time carving the real thing with the kidlets when you can just put your trash out and call it "decorating"? easy? yes. classy? not even close.
the fish are cute, but it seems like one more way of proving that we are a people bent on wasting the bounty we've been blessed with. hey! i have money! let's buy a hummer and decorative garbage bags!

ok, this is so ridiculous that I actually made an account just to comment. seriously, who in their right mind actually think this is a good idea?
there are more important things in life than to make your garbage bag interesting looking (and "interesting" is probably the utter understatement of the year). maybe they should have dedicated their R&D towards making bio-degradable garbage bags?
just my two cent.

They made ME smile, anyway.

So I think I'm in a bit of a minority here, but the goldfish bags made me smile! I think they are super cute and I love the idea of using them as wrapping for large gifts.
I'm sure my garbage men would get a kick out of them too.
Sure there are more important things than making your garbage cute, but c'mon people.. this is funny!

Agreed with michelou. They did make me smile, even though I'd rather invest $16 elsewhere. They're cute :)

Count me as one of the "they made me smile!" crowd. Would I spend the $16, no, but tone down the bitterness, life doesn't have to be serious 100% of the time.
