Vacuum attachment for drapery sucks...but in a good way

P709018L.jpgWe're in the middle of testing the newest yet-to-be-released Halo Ultraviolet Vacuum Cleaner right now (as if the Halo brand didn't need more press already), pitting the model against our recently purchased Hoover Constellation Floating Vacuum in a battery of household chores. In both cases, an attachment we'd like to see is one for drapery, like this one from Home Trends.

The roller shape prevents fabric from being sucked into the vacuum, supposedly trapping "99% of trapped dirt, dust & allergens from drapes, slipcovers, bedspreads, bedding and fringed rugs". Because in the case of fabrics and other things, sucking too hard can cause damage.

I can't wait to read what you think of the Halo. I'm mailing mine back I ordered this week, as a germaphobe with allergies living with a carpeted bedroom, I had high hopes... But besides having no attachment, the Halo vacuum was the loudest vacuum I have every heard!!!! Maybe I got a defective one, but is yours incredibly loud, a basic high pitched scream coming out of it?

I was really hoping to love it.

So far this one is moderately loud in the sound department. I don't feel uncomfortable vacuuming in the morning before work. It's louder than the canister Hoover we already own, but that's not surprising since the canister model does not feature a motor driven attachment.

Their newest upcoming model comes with a hose attachment. I would definitely ask for a replacement, or ask for a refund and wait to reorder the upgrade model.

I have to admit, so far, the idea of zapping germs and other allergens has kept me vigilant about vacuuming. That rug and FLOR tiles haven't been this clean since we got them :)
