Description: I've always loved cameras. I think it started from when I was very little and my parents would take my brother and I to the Burbank public library to rent a film projector and movie. They would rent the actual projector and film (in canisters). It was pretty cool. I learned to feed film through a projector by the age of 5. When I was 12 I got my first camera from my dad in honor of my graduation. It was an automatic Vivtar…

I loved the way the film sounded when it advanced in the camera. For my High School graduation I got a Nikon 8008S which I used until just a few years ago when I got the D300 and switched to digital. I can't shake the vintage cameras and still shoot through them with a technique called Through the Viewfinder (TTV). TTV is when you use a digital camera to shoot "through" the lens of an old Argoflex or Duaflex twin lens camera.

I have quite the collection. I also have some lovely old Polaroids and Kodak cameras. I just love the way they feel, the craftsmanship and the fact that have been around forever. I miss the days of tangible photography when you could touch film, develop it and print it. I have to say though digital allows you to do things for no cost which is a lifesaver. TTV is great because I get the best of both worlds.

Thanks Alysia, for sharing your collection! We'll be following up with Alysia, showcasing the rest of her eclectic and playfully decorated Silver Lake apartment in the coming weeks with a full blown house tour.

I also have a collection of old cameras, with the difference being that they all belonged to my grandfather, who was a professional photographer. It's my favorite collection.
