The Kona Pali's large peaked roof were impressive, and the fairly new green painted exterior beckoned us to investigate, but we got blocked from entering because of strict security policy (several signs about car thefts were posted outside). We had to settle for exterior shots and a few peering inside, where curiously, there seemed to be a strange alien statue in the courtyard garden. Anyone know about this place? Plenty more photos below to refresh your memory...

Here's that strange creature statue that we could see through the front entry glass. The only details we could gather was that the complex was not originally green, but was repainted after it was damaged during the Northridge earthquake, that affected many of the local apartment complexes of this era. To their credit, they only needed moderate repair and still survive today.
