...a friend's brand new use for an old table. Their new space didn't accommodate the size of the dining table so instead of discarding the item, they found a new use for it. By cutting off the legs, the dining table doubled easily as a coffee table. Not only were they resourceful but they redesigned their space without spending much money.

Great idea, that coffee table looks great!
I too try to re-purpose items before throwing them out. Actually, it's sort of the opposite - I look for ways to re-purpose items to avoid buying new ones. Lately, I've been finding odds and ends to help organize my closets. So far I've come up with shoe boxes instead of buying pretty organization boxes to put on shelves; pounding a few nails in scrap wood and attaching it to inside of closets for hanging purses, jewelry, etc; re-purposing an old particle board bookcase to display my shoes inside the closet. (This all looks much better than it sounds.)
I just hate the idea of buying things to organize all the other stuff I buy...

The leather couch was bought at Room Service and the rug at Floor Plan. Both shops are located on 3rd Street in LA.
