Pottery Barn's showroom right now features black, white and green in almost all of their sections. Black and white is a great base for any color to pop and green simply works. We especially like the office section. The desk accessories - magazine holder, clock, organizers - are polished yet fun. This feels like a creative space.

My personal favorite interior colors are the white and medium colored wood, with black and green highlights. But I really don't like the Kelly green shown here, nor the '60s green (which I never, ever like). Bleh.
Also, are the ads covering up the article for anyone else like they are for me? Other pages load just fine, but this oneâfor some reasonâthe right side ads are showing up on top of everything else, almost in the middle.

Oh my! I may have to run out to my local Pottery Barn and get some of those green book boxes after work today! They will be lovely on my white bookshelves.

Hm. I kept checking back every few minutes and the ad was still in the way. Gave up 30 minutes ago, until now. It's fixed.
Weird.

I like EVERYTHING about the Hotel Viceroy. That bathroom is the least of it. Kelly Wearstler, the designer, is my idol. Her taste and style are amazing.

I will never understand why people make such a big deal out of Kelly Wearstler. I think her work is overrated.

It's really interesting that the tiles at the Viceroy Hotel bathroom go in two different directions -- vertical behind the sink and horizontal on the side wall. Is this a new trend?
Has anyone seen it elsewhere?

Is this an example of the NEW 70's look???

Bettina,
I am generally not a fan of celebrity designers but I had to find out who did the Viceroy after I stayed there. If you are ever in Santa Monica and have a chance to stop by, walk around the lobby, restaurant, pool area and especially the yellow library. (The rooms are great too.) I didn't even like the Hollywood Regency style she works in until I got to experience it for four days on a business trip. I think her taste is impeccable but that there is something slightly tongue-in-cheek about it, too. It's sort of "rich Palm Beach grandma" to me, and for some reason I like that.

Yeah, I have a love/hate thing going on with Kelly Wearstler and her style for some reason. I'm fascinated by her, yet at the same time I have horrible flashbacks to Hawaii Five-O and summers spent in Palm Desert with my aunt. There again, I'm conflicted, I LOVED Palm Desert, and my wacky aunt, and Jack Lord for that matter, but do I want to LIVE in a shockingly green and glossy white world, or do I just want to visit? And as far as her "impeccable taste", maybe THAT's the problem. The rooms are as beautiful as she is and that makes me feel like the fat fugly girl. I guess I am drawn toward more warm and inviting interiors that aren't so "perfect" and artificial looking ... although ....not unlike a racoon ... I am also drawn to shiny objects ....
