Coming from many years in the LA fashion industry, Lauren Saunders decided to find a more "direct relationship" with materials, and started her company Lauren Saunders California Modern.
She creates woven textile accessories using traditional craft techniques, but blending it with a modern aesthetic. Each piece is created by hand in her Ventura, CA studio that is just steps for the beach. Her work reminds us of the classic oraganic-chic motifs that defined California Style in the 70's, but her use of luxurious natural fibers (such as alpaca, llama, cashmere, mohair, and angora) feel completely fresh for today. We think they are just sumptuous and sophisticated.
