My Love Affair With Pillows

012308_pillows.jpg

You know that scene in Along Came Polly where Jennifer Aniston convinces Ben Stiller to stab all of his throw pillows? Yeah, me neither; but my friend always brings it up when she sees all seven (and sometimes eight) of the pillows on my bed. I know it's a bit much, but I...can't..resist.....patterns...!

Further evidence of my pillow infatuation...That navy blue one with the diagonal stripes was made by my mum. She also made the window seat cushions (FYI, that area is a work in progress...)

So. Obviously, I need to cut back on the bed pillows. What's hard for me is trying to figure out which pillows get auf'd: the big Euro pillows have great back support...the brown houndstooth pillows are part of the sheet set...the red awning stripe pillows tie in with my rug...and the little square floral-y looking pillow ties it all together. Help! Anyone have any suggestions?

I like a total of five pillows on a double (or larger) bed: two on each side for each sleeper, and a toss pillow that you can use for propping up books or as extra support for reading in bed.

What if you used red shams on on the Euro pillows (to pick up on the rug colour) and then ditched the existing striped pillows? I think that Euro pillows, regular pillows and a throw would look nicely balanced and not quite so overabundant.

I'm a bit shamed to admit it...but we have 14 pillows on our bed. I think my Fiance needs an intervention.

i have a problem with overindulging in the pillow department myself! I have so many that I use a large felt basket to display some of the extras. I like to rotate ones in-and-out of different rooms to change things around. Since I make a lot of my own pillows, I've started just making cases with zippered or button closures, that way I can swap out covers when i feel i want a new look. Cases are much easier to store in your linen cupboard that full-blown pillows!

I love the pink print above your sofa - whimsical, romantic, and a little sexy. Where did you get it?

HeatherAB--
The print is from HunterGatherer (aka Todd St. John). I think it's sold out (it's from the late 90s), but he has some pretty amazing prints on his site:
