Although fashioning your own metal spun aluminum seat to hold three oak legs for a stool is likely out of the question, you could borrow an idea from Benoit Deneufbourg's Woodenlegs stool by installing an LED light underneath your seating for ambient mood lighting to similar effect...

Woodenlegs is currently just a prototype, but will come in three heights, the tallest 120cm version serving as a standing lamp. In the meantime, you could make something similar for very little using an IKEA FROSTA stool and their DIODER multipurpose lighting.
