DIY: Chandelier and Wineglass Holder

atla-062008-glasslamp.jpgGrowing up, with space at a premium, wineglasses were stored on tracks fixed to the undersides of shelves which allowed them to hang upside down and freed up space for dishes. A riff on that option, especially for the space challenged, is this DIY chandelier that doubles as a place to hold wineglasses while letting the light sparkle through the glass.

A companion to the Bottle Drying Chandelier. Composed of three bicycle braking cables, two plexiglass circles, and one efficiency bulb, instructions are available on Koppe via SwissMiss

It looks beautiful, but the doesn't-light-attract-bugs? thing makes me pause. It would be like keeping your fruit next to your clean plates - fruit flies ahoy.

I wish this were a "Hot or Not" post. I would vote "not".

So when you have people over and break out the wine, you have to look at a bare bulb?

No, you aren't supposed to use the glasses to drink out of! And if you don't have that many glasses around, what else do you have that could make a neat light, any of this stuff (click on each picture to see the light that was created from the items):

Yeah. Uh huh. Just as I thought. Now you're as sorry as I am that you've ever thrown anything out.

"That's right, fellas, just dump her right here! I'm going to make lamps!"

With an imagination, NOTHING is trash, and EVERYTHING has potential. Errr...now, what can I do with these cat hair balls? Sweaters anyone?

Not sure I'd use it as a light fixture because I would hate to have to dust each and every glass every week.
