Electronic Swatchbook
Australia

072708swatchbook01.jpgOk we admit to being a little torn over whether or not to post this. You see it’s not every day you find a treasure trove of copyright free pattern swatches dating from the 1830’s to the 1920’s all nicely compiled in an online swatch book. Not to mention the fact that each swatch can be downloaded and opens in Photoshop at roughly 20x20cm at 300dpi.

072708swatchbook02.jpgConsider the possibilities: print and frame the swatches to add colour and texture to your wall artwork collection, if you’re handy with Illustrator (or have a buddy who is) extend the patterns and create you own fabric for cushions, at the very least, give your computer wallpaper a makeover.

The design ideas and inspiration are endless. We should mention that the patterns are in the public domain in Australia and are free to use for commercial or non-commercial purposes without further permission (outside of Australia they do suggest you seek legal advice). So lets all say a big thank you to the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney for being so nice. Cheers!
