Voila, the magic of paint! What can you transform in your house with a little paint and a little imagination?
Link to "before" picture, please!

Does it kill anybody else that there's a bulb missing in that chandelier?? My OCD gets the better of me sometimes!

Is that photo the before or after? Let's hope it's the before.

I am curious to see the after.

I can't find the article on AT from a few weeks ago with the 'before'

Hi. I picked up the exact same chandelier from a Thrift Store and gave it the complete opposite treatment. This was for my daughters room and since the room was a pale pink, we opted to keep everything else linen white.
Here is a link to the post showing the chandelier in it's original state http://whathanasius.blogspot.com/2008/11/thrifted.html
and here is the finished product http://whathanasius.blogspot.com/2008/11/chandelier-done-hung-well.html

I don't think easter should be a perennial theme anymore than halloween, christmas, or independence day.

I think its sweet, I love Italian tole chandeliers. This would work great in a children's room.
view dnice's profile
Please don't tell me that this was originally a brass tole chandelier - If so, it's been ruined by the Easter Bunny...
view bepsf's profile
Yes, I like it too. I can picture it in a kid's room or maybe a breakfast nook.

I didn't recognize those flower stems as part of the original lamp. I thought it looked like fake flowers stuffed in randomly.

I would def. have to see the context of the chandelier because it's a little too pastel-y for me in the photos, but could look cool in the right room.

OK guys we really have to know if we're in presence of a "before" or an "after" here...
I'll go on the "before" side, I remember those chandeliers in stores in the mid 1990's, and I'll suppose it's being painted white in the lower picture : the purple seems to be seeping behind a coat of white paint. And yet the stems are still as green...
maybe the "after" is just that, it's made to evoke the process of being repainted, a sort of "unfinished" trend perhaps?

I like Dhiraj's all white one better.
The multi-color one might be improved with some antiquing to tone down those garish colors, or by adding some red and orange to complete the spectrum and diminish the Easter feeling. Also, I'd change some of the purple.
(Another possibility would be to use more shading in the painted areas, not just flat colors. Takes a bit more artistry, though...)

Before or after, it's awful.

Is anyone else craving peeps?

OK. Followed a few links to the kind of before, but this has already been painted white. The initial state of this lamp continues to intrigue.
view kiljoywashere's profile
I think it could look good in an all white room.

This is definitely the after. I remember the work-in-progress being posted a few weeks ago and it was kinda iffy then, too. This is rather kitsch and yes, Easter-ish. I liked Dhiraj D'Souza's all-white one better (though I think a shinier finish or even metallic paint would be cool too).

The only way that will look good is in a windowless room... switched off!

Sherry Bailey / Slowdown - Thank you for the compliments!
I did toy with the idea of going glossy but never metallic! Maybe I will try that out on the next one.

I wouldn't have chosen those particular colours, but I love the coloured version - it is spectacular and so very rococo and decadent. It's hilarious and it makes me smile. Not at all a fan of the all white one. BORING...and completely counter to the esthetic of the original. But then, I'm against most of the 'paint it white and it will look updated and modern' idea.

i love it! i love white paired with bright colors : )

I love it as an 'after' with all the colors, nice work! I'm really not into the " cover it all with white paint" school of decorating..... I like the exuberance of the originals of this period...

ok good joke...now can we have some 'real' posts

nono wait! AT are you saying if i go in my bathroom take a picture as is, then smash one of the lightbulbs rip down the old shower curtain and HALF hang a new curtain i can take after pics and you will post them and everyone will love it?!

Oh.. seeing this post got me wanting to see the "after" pics. Scrolling down and reading the comments, i realize this IS the after pics.
After seeing the actual "before" shots I have to say that it was never really that wonderful to begin with but the before colours were so much softer and more 50's than afterwards.
They should've stuck to one or two colours, it just looks like an explosion in the paint factory now. Too bad.

I have to giggle at the "peeps" comment!! I like this type of chandelier, and yes, I too noticed the missing bulb...but oh well....I much prefer the color vs. the all white...but softer colors might have worked better for me. Anywho...great job...way to go!
