Look! DIY Pergola in Echo Park

062408DIYPergola.jpgATLA reader David wanted to share his DIY outdoor summertime solution inspired by one of our past posts:

"I was inspired from a pic you guys had posted of a 4 poled pergola with a nice fabric. Well my wife and I needed a quick alternative for our at-the-last minute BBQ. Target provided a king size bedsheet, and torch stakes. Home Depot provided the wood poles that I hand cut in-store.

It's a little breezy at our house in Echo Park, so I had to cut a few holes in the sheet to keep it from floating away. Next time i want to get either a bigger (and nicer) fabric or sew two bedsheets to make it larger. Thanks for the inspiration, AT!"

That looks exactly like a chuppah (I'm probably not spelling that correctly), which is part of a Jewish wedding ceremony.
