I love this stuff. So mid-century mod! You could actually round the corners and make them more bump friendly ,too. I also see covering the top chair with some padding or foam and upholstering the whole piece.

I built a similar sofa back in the day. Same shape, except that the back of mine was actually a shallow bookcase as well. Magazine and book storage, sofa, guest bed - that baby did everything except make dinner! And all for the price of some plywood and a 30" cotton mattress.
Okay, so it weighed a zillion pounds.
