Gift Idea: Hatch Show Print

11_06hatchshowwine.jpg Tis' the season of parties and spirits. If you are someone who likes to give a little to the hostess [we hope that you do it's such nice etiquette] here's a bottle of wine that's super stylie, tasty and won't break the bank at $12.99.

We found "The Show" wine at Cost Plus World Market recently and stopped in our tracks at the label. "Wow that really looks like the work of Hatch Show Print" we thought to ourselves. Once we picked up the bottle and read that they had collaborated on the label design and we were sold regardless of how it tasted. [Surprisingly, it was good]

11_06hatch_history.jpgIf you're not familiar with Hatch Show Print we suggest you mosey on over to take a look. Attached to the Grand Ole Opry, Hatch has been making groovy concert posters for years. Using vintage wood block type and hand cut linoleum the prints are hand set, and individually drawn through the press. They are fantastic looking and a part of print and music history as well. Come to think about it a poster would make a swell gift as well.

The wine is bottled by Rebel Wine in St. Helena, Napa County but when we did a Google search on them we couldn't find anything. If you're hip to the scene check with your local Cost Plus Market as product may be limited to certain regions or stores.

Hatch Show Print! Finally someone else knows what I'm talking about. I live in Nashville. Actually, the print shop is in downtown Nashville - on Broadway. (The Grand Ole Opry is on the east side of town.) Hatch has been doing prints for the Opry since its days in the Ryman Auditorium (just a mile from the print shop). Recent prints for a Sufjan Stevens show (which sold out just before I arrived @ the venue) went for $150 (ish) on eBay. To my horror, I've not been able to get my hands on a copy.

If you are ever in Nashville, make the trip! It's the only tourist attraction worth visiting (unless, of course, you're into cowboy boots).

I am so excited about this gift. My husband is a graphic designer and this will be a perfect stocking stuffer! Thanks goodness he is a wine guy! I really appreciate the tip.

Matt have you checked ebay? I get all of my husbands silk screens from there.

Hatch has been in operation since 1879 and is one of the oldest working museums. Now owned by the Country Music Hall of Fame, it is run by the nicest guy in the world Jim Sherraden which has brought new life to the shop in the early 80's. I grab a case of the show to give out this year for Christmas.

Hatch is cool and Jim the manager is cooler. I've got an armful of his posters/Hatch posters and a few of his own peices. This wine bottle is great stuff. Oh, Jeremy, thanks for wine!!!
