Last Minute Table Decoration: Winter Citrus

112007_lemons.jpgSkip the cornucopia of squashes and mini pumpkins, it's so predictable! Instead, go for some winter citrus. An overflowing bowl of Meyer lemons and satsumas will make for a great centerpiece. Try them in a modern blue bowl or platter or pile them around the table intermixed with perfectly simple votives...

When the night is over you can send everyone home with their pockets stuffed with the satsumas--a light sweet something to finish off the evening or to start their morning after. And there are also a myriad of household uses for citrus around the house, so it's always good to have a few around.

What's wrong with predictable? You get only one season in the year in which you can happily decorate with squash and gourds -- why not enjoy the predictable each fall? You can have citrus in practically any season.
